We Explain Why You Could Think About A Used Car Rather Than Forking Out On An Expensive New Car
You are in the market for a new car, so now here comes the hard decision - what to buy. Perhaps you have already narrowed it down to a car, truck, or van. The features and options you require might be known ahead of time as well. You've already considered leasing, but you just drive too much to make it a feasible option. For anyone who drives a lot, such as a sales representative, a lease vehicle doesn't make a very good choice. Nope, you know you're going to buy. Where you are stuck is on whether to purchase a used car or a new car.
After perusing the dealerships, you've seen tons of new cars, and plenty on "sale" to clear out space to make room for the always new models. You may, however, think that you have found the car you want, at the price you want to pay, only to find that you can get an amazing deal on very high quality used cars for sale, at a much better price. Perhaps it is now time to sop and think about what you actually get when you buy a new car, and consider whether or not this is a good purchase, rather than simply going for the new car as you always have.
Regardless of the exact amount, one thing that we all understand and are well aware of is the fact that, as soon as you drive your new car off the lot, a large portion of its "value" has been lost and there is no way to recoup these lost monies. It is easy to see that something is at play here, that has nothing to do with the vehicle itself, that is resulting in the significant decrease in the value of the car. Something else is being paid for.
To the new car buyer, it's most obvious that the warranty figures into this somewhere. Warranties are viable and often prudent services which cannot be dismissed as riffraff. This article was not written to talk about the ills and evils of car warranties, or debate whether or not this is a valid factor in your car buying decision. Consider, however, how much more advertising you see for new cars compared to used cars. After a car is driven off the lot, the inflated advertising budget is no longer a necessity as the car has been sold. It can therefore be resold for far less because the cost of advertising would be greatly diminished.
For individuals who post their cars for sale on websites or classifieds, this is true for them as well. Cars for sale by owner have almost no advertising cost associated with them, meaning you only pay for the vehicle.
The desire for a brand new vehicle, all squeaky and new is understandable, as is the desire for a car with no mileage that comes with an extended warranty. New things are frequently superior to used things and are sometimes a better buy. You should, however, consider buying a used car if you have a problem with part of the purchase price of the vehicle being the advertising budget. In this case, you are paying for the car and car only. Do we really need to told that new makes and models are currently available? Does this mean that consumers cannot be trusted to actually seek out the products they want and need? When can we have the savings passed on to us, and when can we put an end to the endless advertisements and solicitations?
