9 WesternCar Makers
Japanese built and developed cars have flooded the North American {marketplace} for over forty years now. Over time, numerous nameplates have come and gone, but Japanese cars continue to gain {marketplace} share and acceptance {having a} growing number of motorists attracted to their {top quality} and durability. There are actually nine Japanese automobile manufacturing organizations in existence. Can you name them? Let’s take a have a look at the list:
Toyota - The second largest automaker inside the world is Toyota, maker of the Camry, the Corolla, along with a host of SUVs, trucks, passenger cars, along with a van. Toyota’s Lexus division produces luxury cars, even though its Scion division manufactures youth oriented vehicles.
Honda - The Accord and also the Civic are Honda’s two most properly identified models, followed by the Odyssey minivan, the Ridgeline truck, the Element, and a number of other passenger vehicles. Acura {will be the} name given to Honda’s luxury auto division.
Nissan - Drive a Datsun and then determine. Up until the early 1980s, Nissan’s North American nameplate was Datsun, but was switched to Nissan to give it a additional global name. The Sentra, Maxima, and Pathfinder are amongst the division’s finest selling vehicles. Infiniti is Nissan’s luxury vehicle division. Renault Motors of France owns a controlling interest in Nissan.
Mitsubishi - Originally imported exclusively by Chrysler, Mitsubishi began to sell cars under its own name within the 1980s. Top selling models incorporate the Lancer, the Eclipse, plus the Montero. DaimlerChrysler owns a chunk of the provider.
Mazda - The Tribute, Miata, along with the “6” are a few of the most properly recognized Mazda models. The Mazda 6’s platform also powers various Ford Motor Business cars such as the Mercury Milan. Ford owns an vital stake inside the business.
Subaru - Believe all wheel drive and you might just feel Subaru. The Forester, Outback, and Legacy are all top selling Subaru models. Fuji Heavy Industries [FHI] owns Subaru; General Motors has a 20 percent stake in FHI.
Suzuki - 20% owned by General Motors, Suzuki is as noted for producing cars as it's for manufacturing motorcycles. The Grand Vitara is {1} of its most noted models.
Isuzu - Did somebody say General Motors? Once more, GM owns a stake in Isuzu. At {1} time Isuzu imported cars to the US, but those days are over. Presently, Isuzu has a miniscule presence as well as the two vehicles they do sell - the Ascender SUV and I Series pick ups - are basically rebadged GMC vehicles.
Daihatsu - The Charade and Rocky {had been} two models introduced by Daihatsu when the vehicle organization {began} selling vehicles in North America in 1988; four years later its North American operations {had been} closed. In 1999, Toyota assumed controlling interest over the provider.
So, there you might have it: you will discover nine Japanese automakers, two of {that are} still independent. Significantly like the American {marketplace} further consolidation is {most likely} with nameplates disappearing entirely just like the Packard, Hudson, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, as well as a host of other North American nameplates have driven off into the history books.

Is the 3.0 in a chrysler Lebaron a Mitsubishi engine ?
So i have a 1994 Chrysler Lebaron with a 3.0L. I looked it up and it said it was a Mitsubishi 6G72 3.0 V6 but his kid in my auto class said that it is not a Mitsubishi because they didn't make a V6 with out duel over head cam and my Lebaron is only a single!????
I have never seen or heard of a 6g72 with DOHC. Ive only ever heard of them with SOHC.
People can convert them if they have the mechanical know how but they come with SOHC when stock.
August 2011: Slow Recovery Edition [UPDATE] (Autoblog)

_Chrysler Continues Climb, Japan Begins Rebound_
There's some good news and some not-so-good news when dissecting sales figures
for August of 2011. For one, Chrysler posted notable gains for all of its
brands, especially Jeep, which managed to score an impressive 58-percent sales
rise over the same period a year ago.
General Motors also impressed with its figures, with Cadillac's four-percent
gain the only one of its brands not to post a double-digit rise.
Of the Japanese brands, only Nissan, with a 19-percent overall gain in sales,
was able to adequately recover from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan that
have been plaguing all automakers for the past several months. That said, both
Toyota and Honda managed to post smaller losses than what were recorded a
month ago.
Further, the Toyota Camry (30,185 total sales) was again the best-selling
automobile (behind the Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks,
naturally) in August, as it was in July, after briefly giving up that mantle
to the Chevy Cruze in June. Have a gander at the complete set of August sales
