How to Get Started with Radio Controlled Cars
Radio controlled cars are an exceedingly exciting and fun hobby for young and old alike. One of the first questions to answer if you are an RC car newbie is should you choose electric or nitro powered.
As a general rule nitro RC cars are really best for someone who has gained a little experience. And that experience is best acquired with an electric rc car.
Electric RC cars are simpler. They are much quieter and don't require the routine maintenance that nitro powered cars demand. The downside of electric is that they don't quite have the realism of nitro powered and some are less powerful.
Nevertheless, electrically powered RC cars are a whole lot of fun and there are some fantastic models to choose from. I always recommend buying at least two battery packs and mayber even three or four if you have the budget. Battery packs can generally be charged in around 3 minutes but some only last for about 5 minutes so it is always worthwhile buying a few to make the most of your car.
Personally I love off road models, especially dune buggys which I race around the sand dunes on beaches near to my home. I take along several fully charged battery packs so that I can get as much time as possible jumping around the sand dunes.
The main advantage of electric over nitro powered rc cars is maintenance simplicity. Nitro powered cars use real mini engines with real mini filters that need to be changed regularly. Electric RC cars are much simpler and therefore much more suitable for beginners and youngsters.
You can get both electric and nitro RC cars in kit form and this adds another aspect to the hobby. Building your own RC car is a great learning experience and can be immensely satisfying. As I've said, I recommend that you start out with an electric car and then, maybe, move on to a nitro model if you get into the hobby.
Hacked MIT Server Used To Stage Attacks (Slashdot)

Technology (MIT) has been identified as being used as a vulnerability scanner
and attack tool, probing the Web for unprotected domains and injecting code.
According to researchers, the ongoing attacks appear to be related to the
Blackhole Exploit Pack, a popular crime kit used by criminals online. The
attacks started in June, and an estimated 100,000 domains could have been
compromised. Judging by initial data, one MIT server (CSH-2.MIT.EDU) hosts a
malicious script actively used by cyber-crooks to scan the web for vulnerable
websites. These types of attacks are how BlackHat SEO scams are propagated,
which target search results in order to spread rogue anti-virus or other
malware. In addition, compromised hosts are also leveraged for other schemes,
such as spam or botnet control."
