Ideas For Buying An Engagement Gift
The times are changing and this sometimes leaves people a little unsure about the etiquette or expectations that are in place. When people become engaged it is still normal to have an engagement party and guest normally bring along a gift as a way of congratulating the couple and wishing them the best.
The gift is normally related to the household, but it tends to be less expensive and smaller than the type of gift that you would give for a wedding present. The thing that causes the problem with so many people is that often the couples are already living together and may already have a lot of the household goods that they require.
If you are buying a gift for an engagement, you do not want to be the person who has bought them another set of wine glasses when they have already received five others. To avoid doubling up, there are a couple of things that people do. Sometimes the couple might have a registry, but this is not as common for engagements as it is for weddings. Another option is that you choose a gift that does not really matter if they have more than one.
One idea for such a gift is a dining room set. You can use more than one of these and they come with napkins, place mats, napkin rings and perhaps a table cloth or table runner. There are many different designs that you can find from casual to formal to suit different home decor.
If you would like to buy such a gift, then you should make sure that you find out what shape of dining table they have as some sets come as rectangular or round dining room sets.
Quilt sets are another possible gift idea as these will always come in very useful. The sets generally include sheets, pillow cases and either a quilt cover or a printed quilt. You can find beautiful quilts that match just about any kind of taste and home decoration theme.
By taking some time to think about the gift that you want to give the newly engaged couple and by choosing a gift that can be doubled up on with no problem at all you will be able to find a gift that they like. The engagement gift does not have to be too expensive or too salubrious, the bigger gift is reserved for the wedding.

Toyota Fun-Vii is rolling, customizable weirdness (Autoblog)

The Tokyo Motor Show wackiness has officially begun, and the first far-out
concept comes courtesy of Toyota and the Fun-Vii.
Forget custom paint jobs and vinyl graphics, the Fun-Vii lets you change the
exterior design "with the same ease as downloading an application," allowing
drivers to display everything from custom messages to flashy graphics through
some manner of magical exterior display technology.
The same goes for the interior, which Toyota claims can be customized to suit
the mood of the driver, with a variety of themes and an augmented reality
function taking place of the traditional navigation system.
Less far-out is the incorporation of a "navigation concierge" that provides
up-to-the-second driving and multimedia information through a virtual
assistant. And naturally, the Fun-Vii interfaces with both your smartphone and
other road users, adding both a safety and social element to the driving
experience.
We'll be getting an eye-full of the Fun-Vii on Wednesday, but in the meantime,
get the minimal details in the press release below the fold.
