April 2001

Greetings Redliners!
Spring is upon us and there is excitement in the air. First, I would like to welcome back all of the members that have hibernated over the winter. I am happy to see you all again and look forward to a fun season. There have been some changes over the cold spell and I think you all will be pleasantly surprised to find how we have evolved over the past few months.
Of the many changes that are in effect, with the help of Timmy and MattSi, we should have our new web site "Redline 2.0" up and running. With the publicity we have gained from the magazines and companies expressing interest and we were due for an overhaul. I am very pleased with the outcome and although there is a lot of text to the site, it is all good information for everyone to use.
We have also officially appointed chairmen to our board that includes a representative from the four major theaters of our organization. They include Tony Simmons who will head up the Eastern portion (Gratiot, Jefferson, past St. Claire Shores). Mark Whalen will take the Central region (Woodward to include Troy and surrounding areas), Craig Connolly will continue to be in charge of the Windsor region and I will be heading up the whole thing and well as the Western Region (I-275 Corridor, Ann Arbor and Brighton). This will allow for a proper chain of command for new members and a close "go to" for our members and activities. This will also help with administrative activities, such as car shows, races and gatherings in the respective area will be headed up by the respective person.
As many of you know, we have also pushed to become more professional in our appearance. -Thus the club shirt requirement and the club display for shows and race support. No member will be allowed to join Redline Motorsport unless they purchase a club shirt to wear at our events. It makes us look better and puts us in a different league that we have been in since forming. We will also be selling T-shirts, Hats, Windbreakers and even women's clothing in the near future, so we will not be forced to wear the same article for an entire weekend for the larger events. We may even decide to offer the clothing on line for non-members, but only the members will have the genuine black Redline Motorsport Work-shirt. This, combined with our version of Hot Import Nights -"AutoRave MotorCity" that is in the works, should allow the organization to raise money for future events.
Lastly, we all have also voted on the amount of members Redline Motorsport will have this year. As many of you know, last year turned into a managing nightmare due to the amount of people we had on our member's list. The amount approved for the year 2001 was 50, but I think we should continue to grow as long as we are able to admit only highly motivated members. Honestly, I do not think 80 members (20 per region) will ever get out of hand now that we have established a solid infrastructure. But as more members join, we will grow and adapt accordingly.
We have a few events that are about a month away, with a scheduled event in Windsor in May, another in Ohio the middle of May and Hot Import Nights at the end of June. The schedule will fill quickly, so stay tuned for not only the events, but our coverage as well.
This year will prove to put Redline Motorsport in the map, nationally. But it takes highly motivated members like yourself that makes it become successful. I thank you for you help over the winter and look forward to a fun, safe and productive season.
Speed ya later,
