November 2000 |
Greetings
Redliners,
Well here it is November and as some of you have noticed, the
season is pretty much over. I would like to thank everyone who
joined us this year and all the "veterans" who helped
make this year a success. We went to many events and did
extremely well for a club that was started only a year ago. To
date we have near 90 members and I look forward to next year's
activities.
As I said before, there are going to be some major changes over
the winter:
The first major goal is to get the website updated. We have
coverage from half of the races and shows we still need to post
and the general format will change, so keep checking back for
updates. Tim and Jedidiah will be in charge of the work, with
Zach and I giving direction, so if anyone else has good
experience and time to devote to the site, please let us know.
The second goal is to get club shirts made. There has been a lot
of talk, but nothing has been done yet as we have to still
decide on a shirt style to use. JJ, Jeff and I have been
entertaining several styles, but we need to get something
finalized soon so we may place an order and have the shirts by
Autorama in February. So far the best choice is an all black
"Work Style" shirt with the Redline Motorsport logo on
the back and just the tach in the front. Simple yet functional.
I would like to see everyone think about paying the extra to
have their name stitched on the driver's side sleeve, but that
will be taken care of by the owner of the shirt so we may have
some individuality. Our target price for each shirt and
embroidery is still $40.00, so plan on that for the winter.
Lastly, we have decided to "clean house". As I said
before we are up to 90 members and we all know very well that
over half of the members are not participating. I am not talking
about the two or three weekly no shows, but the members who we
never see at the major events AND weekly gatherings. Please
understand that nothing is mandatory, especially the weekly
meetings. But when only 12 or 13 at best show up for a local
event, something needs to be addressed. We are a club but only
one thing is requested of you as a member. It evolves going to
events with the rest of the club. If you feel that you might not
be able to do that on a regular basis, than please ask yourself
if remaining a Redline Motorsport member is still for you. I
understand that things happen.. Believe me, with my family
growing, I know there are things in life that take precedence.
However, if you have not gone to any of the events the club
participates in, there might be a conflict of interest. The
founders will go through the applications when renewal dues are
collected in March and decide on who to let go. Please do not
take is personally and if you have any questions, please email
me at:
idzine@michiganconnect.com and
limpoth@ascglobal.com to make sure I get it.
On another note, we have the chance to represent at next year's
Autorama as a club. I know there will not be 90 cars allowed in,
but if you are interested, please email me your information;
such as name and address and modifications to your car. I will
need a front 3/4, side, rear 3/4 view of your car as well as
interior and engine shot to submit to the judges. The cars will
be judged on individuality, showmanship and modifications. I was
told that we should try and limit the amount to 5 cars and they
would like to see them all different models- Not 5 2000 Si's.
Maybe two or three, depends on who wants to take their car to
COBO hall and leave it there for three days in the end of
February.... So please let me know as the deadline is the end of
November.
Once again please let me stress the point that we have come a
long way in the past year, so if we want to keep the momentum as
the best Sport Compact club in Michigan/Great Lakes, we need to
make some changes. I look forward to keeping in touch will all
of you in the message boards over the winter,
Your friend, Thomas
