1. Have some dollars ready. When you exchange your money into dollars, set aside a bit for tipping and make sure you always have around $10 in singles in your wallet at any given time. This will make it easy to give whatever value of tip you want without having to ask for change. Although asking for change is quite common also so don’t be embarrassed
2. Bars. In general you should be looking to tip about a dollar a drink when bought at the bar. Of course if you are buying a big round then just tip $3-$4 dollars for the lot. If the beverages are served to you all night at your table then you should really leave a 10% tip on your bill at the end
3. Restaurants. the type of restaurant where you are eating kind of determines this one. The more formal eating places normally expect a tip of around 20-25% of the total, whilst take-aways and self service you should look to add around 15%. If the service exceeds your expectations or the staff were very helpful then do tip them a little more for their efforts.
4. Bags.A tip of $1 per bag is the standard for porters who bring your luggage up to your room. Give more if you think it is warranted but it is advised not to go lower or offer change to the porter. Bag carriers at airports should be tipped between $2 to $4 per bag
5. Poor service. don't reach for you tipping dollars if you don't find the service is up to scratch. But make sure you express your reasons. Most service providers want to hear where they can improve and won’t be offended. Florida holidays staff are particularly humble.
